Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support Delivering Education Programs that Make Better Service Members Today and More Effective Citizens Tomorrow
Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES)
This article provides the latest operational status, historical context, and contact information for the Troops to Teachers (TTT) program following recent legislative and organizational changes.
Program History and Funding Status
The Troops to Teachers program was initially canceled on October 1, 2020. It was subsequently reauthorized on December 27, 2021, via the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2022.
Critical Funding Update: While the program was successfully reauthorized by Congress, the TTT program did not receive an appropriation to fund the restart of its operations.
Organizational Realignment
Effective October 1, 2023, the TTT Program was officially realigned from the Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES) to the Military-Civilian Transition Office.
Due to the lack of appropriated funds, the program is currently operating with minimum staff and resources.
